Trustees – Understand & Improve your Governance – Ian Hempseed to speak at Sheffield Law Society event
Sheffield & District Law Society are hosting a talk for charity Trustees where Hempsons’ Ian Hempseed will be speaking.
The aim of the talk is to help charity trustees understand their responsibilities and the demarcation of roles between them and the Chief Executive.
The training will cover:
- Setting the scene with recent charity stories in the news, the Charity Commission’s current regulatory approach and the new Charity Governance Code, we will explore the need for trustees to take responsibility for their organisation;
- The legal duties and responsibilities of charity trustees, looking at Board effectiveness and its role, how this role relates to the work of the Chief Executive, conflicts of interest, how decisions should be taken and delegation to Chief Executives and committees.
The aim is to give practical tips to help improve your governance.
