Zara Ameen

Zara is a dedicated paralegal in the Healthcare Advisory team, specialising in inquests on behalf of NHS Trusts and care providers. She provides support to solicitors in managing complex inquest cases, ensuring the coronial directions are complied with, and mitigating legal risks. She has reviewed cases, drafted advice, liaised with the court and clients, and provided risk assessments ahead of the inquest. Zara has assisted with advocacy preparation and preparing submissions, and partakes in client training.

Prior to Hempsons LLP, she has completed an in-house secondment dealing with inquests, having meetings with quality governance teams and relevant divisions in progressing matter; reviewing witness statements, pre-empting further documents the Coroner may require, and prepared an assessment of potential risks to be presented to the CQC and the Trust. She also gained Court of Protection experience during this role.

Prior to this experience, Zara has previously worked as an insurance paralegal whilst completing her LPC and Masters in Law, and was involved in cases ranging from £3,000 – over a £1,000,000. This experience provided her with valuable insights into providing a legal and commercially based response to clients. This experience consisted of drafting various legal documents, negotiating settlements, and liaising with the insurance companies, loss adjusters, and policyholders, and the opposing party.

While pursuing her Bachelor of Law degree, Zara was involved in a pro-bono family law clinic.
